Solvent dyes refer to colored substances that are insoluble in water but can be dissolved in organic solvents.

It is a kind of dye, which is insoluble in water but soluble in oil or organic solvent. Solvent dyes can be divided into oil soluble and alcohol soluble.

Solvent dyes are mainly used for coloring wood and plastics, as well as transparent paint, ink, fat, oil, wax, soap, petroleum products and smoke agents: aluminum foil, leather, etc. It can also be used to color the raw pulp of synthetic fiber.
