In industry, acid orange 7 is mainly used in wool, leather, silk, nylon, paper dyeing. At the same time, it is also used as an indicator, which is commonly used in the staining of tissue sections in medicine. Golden yellow powder, red light yellow when dissolved in water, orange when dissolved in ethanol, magenta when dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid, and then diluted to form brownish yellow precipitate. The water solution is brown precipitated by hydrochloric acid and dark brown precipitated by sodium hydroxide. When dyeing, it tends to be red and dark when it comes to copper ion, light and dark when it comes to iron ion, with good discharge.

Acid orange dyes is mainly used for the dyeing of silk and wool fabrics, as well as leather and paper. Nylon can be dyed in formic acid bath. It can be used for direct printing on wool, silk and nylon, as indicator agent and biological coloring.
